Julie Smiley, Full-time 4's for 2018-2019

Hello, my name is Julie Smiley. I am so excited to be a part of the Calvary team!
To me the four-year- old year is the best because, it is before a child is fully in
school, yet, they aren’t a baby anymore. They are full of child like wonder as they
begin to discover how the world around them works. I use to tell my children, “I
wish you could stay four forever!”.
They grew up though, my daughter Alex is twenty-eight and my son Sam is
twenty-six. They are both married to wonderful people who are a cherished
addition to our family.
My husband Barry and I have been married for thirty-four years. We attend
and serve at Christview Christian Church where Barry is a deacon. We grew up in
Indiana, married and moved to Florida where Barry was stationed in the Air Force,
after that, we lived in Tennessee briefly before moving to Kentucky, where we
have called home, for the last thirty years. As empty nesters, we have started
dating each other again, and we are still best friends. In my spare time when I’m
not dating my husband, I like to cheer on the CATS, read and exercise.
I have worked with children for twenty-one years. I have owned and operated
a certified daycare in my home, worked in a daycare with children age six weeks
to five, also I was a teaching assistant in the Clark County Schools, working with
children in second grade through the senior year of high school. I have worked
extensively with children who have special needs and I have had opportunities
where I was able to teach math, science and literature. I have earned an Associate
of Arts degree in Business Management from Lexington Community College and
recently obtained my CDA from Morehead University.
I have always thought that when I retire I would like to be a missionary. Then I
realized that I have a mission right now.
     Proverbs 22:6
Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
That is my mission. This year your child will learn of the love Jesus has for them,
they will get ready for kindergarten and as all four-year- old children should, they
will have fun! I am looking forward to a great year!
